Okay…I am seriously going to blog about a vacuum cleaner but not just any vacuum cleaner...I am talking about the dyson cordless. I received it as a gift, which was awfully generous may I just say, and I made my mind up that I would not keep it if it did not work.
Well…does it ever work! I put the dyson cordless to the test…over and over and over again. I would think to myself, it will not pick up this or that…no way…it just won’t…and…it just did. It has picked up EVERYTHING I have tasked it to. The suction is off the charts fabulous on all types of floors. It is super light, the maneuverability makes it so darn easy to use and the profile is very compact so it gets all the places a normal vac will not. Don't even get me started about using it to vacuum the car...the best!. Add all the attachments they offer and you are in vacuum heaven.
I often think to myself, am I really singing the praises of a vacuum? Yes, I am, and proudly, I might add. Those in my life just laugh at me as they have heard me go on and on about how fantastic it is…some have even purchased one. A friend told me yesterday she is asking for the @dyson cordless vac for Mother’s Day and I know she will absolutely love it!
I just read the March issue of @O_Magazine and what has a one page write up? A @dyson and “why it’s worth it”. @TheRealAdamSays is quoted, “…this ingenious creation may actually make vacuuming fun” and I couldn’t agree more...as it does…really. I love my @dyson. I love grabbing it off the docking station and putting it to work. I continue to challenge its’ ability and it continues to not disappoint. It has actually replaced my big, heavy-upright vacuum. Now...how fabulous is that?!
With girltrunks the answer is a resounding yes, yes and yes! What I have discovered in my years of running girltrunks is it does not matter what size, age or shape we are, many of us just do not want to prance around, essentially in our underwear, in front of strangers to enjoy activities around water. It matters not why we seek more coverage from a swimsuit…some of us just do and that is okay.
For those of us that do seek more coverage, @girltrunks recently launched the new collection. I had the opportunity to leave the cold of the Midwest and head to Florida where I took the new pieces. It was six years ago when I wore the first collection of girltrunks at Siesta Key and was beyond excited then.
Well…fast forward to now, and again, I cannot tell you how freeing it was to truly feel comfortable at the beach, even more so than with the first collection. Beyond the trunks, which were the inspiration for the line, we have added a new top for those of us that are looking for more support and it is appropriately named, “support your local girls” and does it ever!
Another addition to the line is the "feel ARMazing shrug" for all of us that want to cover our "bat wings" or "hangy arms" and/or simply want to have more coverage from the sun. With the addition of the shrug, I honestly had zero inhibitions or feelings of being self-conscience at all…and I mean…at all. I played in the ocean, walked the beach and was covered where I wanted to be covered. I also felt stylish because, did I mention, it is a cute "outfit"?
So...yes, yes, yes…it is possible to finally feel confident in a swimsuit...really!
girltrunks exists...for you…so you can participate, play and enjoy all of life’s adventures.
In a special blog, girltrunks’ Social Media/PR intern, Courtney, will share her recent fashion experience.
Wow, I’m excited to be writing my very first blog for girltrunks. I recently had the opportunity to attend a Q&A session at the Florence O’Donnell Wasmer Gallery at Ursuline College. Constance Korosec, Ph.D., is the curator of the gallery’s latest exhibition, “The Best Closet in Cleveland”. I was very excited about this event for many reasons. I’m a senior fashion student at Ursuline, Dr. Korosec is one of my instructors, and I wanted to learn more about the preparation for the gallery.
The Costume Collection at Ursuline College contains nearly 4,000 pieces. However, Dr. Korosec could only select 37 pieces. Talk about making some hard decisions. When I arrived, I made sure to take pictures of some of my favorite looks.
This dress is a part of an area informally called the Gold Corner. This dress stood out to me because of the neckline and fabric. This dress was donated by the Fashion Institute of Technology.
My favorite piece is a pink and black sheath dress with a big pink bow. The colors alone grabbed my attention. It’s a recent donation to the collection and came from a lady named Mrs. Kadis. The dress was designed by a French designer in Paris.
The centerpiece is a pink John Galliano gown. The dress was donated by Elegant Extras about eight years ago.
Check out the back of the dress!
If you are in the area, I would highly suggest stopping by to check out the exhibit. It will be running until October 31.
Inside the summer issue of @edibleCleveland was a wonderful opportunity to go on a field trip with Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream, which just happens to be my all time favorites, to Mulberry Creek Herb Farm where @MitchellsCleve Homemade Ice Cream sources some of their herbs. Count me in!
Mulberry Creek Farm is the only certified organic herb farm in Ohio and they have over 1000 varieties of herbs. They are also one of the preeminent sources for miniature "fairy" garden plants. It is their greenery that was used for this creation.
Mulberry Creek Farm provides Mitchell's with mint and we learned that the very top of the mint has the most oils and flavor. As a result, they hand cut only the very top of the plants and off they drive to Mitchell's within an hour for the utmost freshness.
Mark, the herb master himself, shared with us the ins and outs of English Lavender which is the lavender that should be used in food. The smell was absolutely divine!
Then it was time to partake of a garden fresh lunch.
After all that deliciousness, we toured the vegetable gardens, shopped for some herbs and off we went back to Mitchell's brand new and rather spectacular Ohio City location for an ice cream tasting and Q&A with Mike Mitchell.
Full disclosure, I have been going to Mitchell's since they opened their first shop 15 years ago on the other side of town. Now they have 8 shops including their new production/ice cream facility/shop. This is not just any ice cream shop...it is a renovated theatre in the historic Ohio City neighborhood where the @WestSideMarket is located. They incorporated many green and sustainable aspects to the building and may I just say, it is truly stunning.
It is so exciting to see the growth of a local company and two brothers that are passionate about what they do. I absolutely love that everything is organic. Here to find out, they do not keep any inventory. They are producing ice cream 364 days a year for over 60 local restaurants, several local grocery store chains as well as their shops.
Mike Mitchell shared the Mitchell's story and answered all of our questions, for which I had many, as we sampled some of their creations. One thing I could not help but notice, was the art throughout the building and here it was all created by their 84 year old aunt...now how fabulous is that?!
Went and grabbed a bite to eat and came back for my favorite sundae - coffee chip with marshmallow and hot fudge. As we hung out, a band was setting up...again...not your typical ice cream shop.
Thank you to Noelle and staff with @edibleCleveland and Mike Mitchell for creating such a wonderful day for all we foodies. It was quite the experience.
If you visit Cleveland, make sure to go to @MitchellsCleve...I promise your taste buds will be happy, happy!
A few months back, I was invited to share the girltrunks story at a networking group, Burning River Coffee Community. The invitation was by a new friend and fellow entrepreneur, Sophie of @SoffieB whom designs amazing luxury robes and dressing gowns. The woman whom started the networking group is Laura Bennett of Embrace Pet Insurance whom offers a much needed service for all the loving pet owners out there.
Fast forward to last month when we received an email that a group of women entrepreneurs from Israel and the Palestine Territories were stopping in Cleveland on their 21-day trip as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program sponsored by the State Department which included visits to NYC, DC, Atlanta and Los Angeles. The meeting took place @EmbracePetIns office in Beachwood.
What an amazing opportunity for all of us to share the challenges we face and the successes we experience on our entrepreneurial journeys. It was truly an inspiring experience!
Here is a little more detail about the visit from the Burning River Coffee Community Facebook page.
