Okay...I am really loving the new Epic smartphone and it became an epic
pain in regards to my list of contacts. All the phone numbers were transferred
over...so I thought. I then discovered the postal addresses did not make it
over. I think, no biggie, I can just enter them.
I enrolled my niece to
see if she might be able to figure out how to move my contacts as she is much
more tech savvy than her lame aunt...and...she has the same phone which I knew
would come in handy, already has. No luck with the addresses, but she was able
to move the emails...huge, huge help. Thanks, Jen! Through all of this, what
she discovered is both the contacts and calendar are stored in the "phone" and
if I want to have all my contacts/calendar backed up continually, which I most
definitely do, it all needs to reside in gmail.
What did that mean to me
you ask? I had to add every single contact to the gmail account. As a result,
I now had two "linked contacts" for nearly everyone on the Epic - one connected
to "phone" and one to my gmail account. So...I then proceeded to delete each
and every contact from the "phone" one by one. Can anyone say, "Just shoot
me"?! Seriously, I was about ready to loose my mind! It was beyond tedious and
took hours and hours but I finally completed the task...woo, hoo!
Now
the next thing I need to figure out is how to cut and paste from one email to
another. The joy continues...

...and an upgrade I got...the choice...the epic. I went from this Palm Treo which served me well:
to this:
I was initially a fish out of water with the basic
functioning of the phone but once I got the hang of it...all good. My biggest
mission was to get all my emails set up and after that, the rest would be
fluff. Well...I'm kind of liking the fluff...and the apps...who knew? I can tell
you NOT me! This is a whole new world and a fun one at that.
Here's to a
fantastic 2011!

My friend and blogger extraordinaire, jodi, sent me a link with this message: "hey debbie!! just came across this and thought i'd share. perhaps it will help you in some way..."
Ten Important Things
I've Learned About Blogging courtesy of...
Jodi knows I so struggle with this whole blogging thing. I read the list of 10 and honestly felt even more overwhelmed. I have to admit, I was just thinking to myself that I really need to get back to blogging as I haven't done it for a few months. In came jodi's email...two weeks ago might I just add. so...here I am. at this point, I am not ready to commit to daily blogging. I will go for the once a week and if I really have something to share, maybe more. We shall see...

...I can already tell I am going to love it because it weighs hardly
anything, it has a seven hour battery and it is very portable. What a difference
compared to the 17" which is clunky and heavy when carting it around in a laptop
case. The mini is pretty much like holding a hard cover
book...all good! Now all I have to do is find a handbag that it fits
into. Posted

I have not really even been able to use it as I have one of
the wireless USB things for my internet access and there is no optical drive in
the Dell Mini so I could
not load the software for it to run. After waiting on the phone for tech support
for how long they ask me if I have wireless...yes...with the USB thing which
does not work. As a result I was doing one of my
not so fun things to do yesterday...hanging out at the cell phone store for tech
support. I was there for quite a while and they did load the software which I
was happy about and it still did not work. Haven't we have all been there? After
another call to tech support it finally works and I am thrilled.
On a completely different subject, here's one of my first
lilly's to bloom in the garden last week. I was cutting some more flowers this
morning and the deer have managed to eat so many of the flowers. It's so
discouraging. They are eating things they never touched before. It's such a
trial and error to figure out what they will stay away from regardless of what
the experts say. Where I live, if it's not the deer, it's the bunnies. Oh
well...I have a house full of lilly's...not so bad!
